Kappa Gamma Chi is Emerson College's oldest and only professional sorority. The local organization is dedicated to the promotion of women's advancement in society, personal growth, and community service.Founded in 1902 along with our brother fraternity, Phi Alpha Tau, the organization has a long-standing tradition of excellence in the communicative arts. Kappas are professional, engaging, and vibrant assets to the Emerson College community and the Boston community as a whole. Each sister prides herself on superior work in her chosen field, and the pledge process is one of the most preparatory exercises for the professional world available. 

Kappa Gamma Chi holds and participates in various community service events each semester, including blood drives, canned food drives, and environmental clean-ups, among other things. The sisters of Kappa Gamma Chi work diligently each spring to host our annual Take Back the Night Week, which is a week full of events dedicated to raising awareness about domestic abuse and women's issues, and to raising money for a local women's shelter. It began in 1997 and is the sorority's proudest accomplishment and deepest commitment.

The organization strives to uphold the cornerstones of love, loyalty, harmony, and trust, and is supported not only by the active sisters, but by the alumnae, and faculty advisers, as well. The motto, "Once a Kappa, Always a Kappa,"  certainly holds true, and we are indeed sisters and friends above all else.
